Rediscover and experience the artistry, poetry and magic of analog expression at ARE YOU MY TYPE? A Typewriter Celebration
Appealing to visitors of all ages, this unique event encourages people to discover the charm of analog expression while highlighting the timeless beauty of typewriters. Writers, poets, collectors, artists, and everyone else will be enchanted by the rhythmic clack of keys on paper! Whether trying one for the first time or just stepping into your distant past,
visitors will be able type on a variety of historic to mid-century modern typewriters.
Guests can test their speed and precision in the Typewriter Contest, a no-backspace showdown. Or
type an original haiku poem for our special event zine. The Short Story Challenge will let visitors
join in the collaborative crafting of a "never-ending tale," while a themed scavenger hunt will have
guests looking for hidden gems throughout the museum!
Typewriter Connection, who recently exhibited “Type Town” at the LA County Fair, will install a
vintage typewriter display featuring rare machines and intriguing artifacts from the late 19th
century, as well as colorful mid-century mechanical marvels. Additional special guests include The
Typin' Pint, Typewriters Anonymous, Kathie Studios, and heART.strokes and Vintage Verse with
Moe Types, each of whom offers exceptional opportunities like typo-o-grams, custom cards made
on-the-spot, original poetry, and more. They will also have themed merch, cool posters, retro
treasures, hand-crafted greeting cards, even fully working typewriters for sale. So much to explore!
