Typewriter Celebration at the International Printing Museum

ARE YOU MY TYPE? A Typewriter Celebration will take place at the International Printing Museum in Carson, California on June 14 in honor of National Typewriter Day.
The event will highlight the beauty of typewriters which are still much loved by enthusiasts although those trying one for the first time are also very welcome to visit and try typing on a variety of historic to mid-century modern typewriters.
“This event is a love letter to the analog writing experience,” said Mark Barbour, curator of the Printing Museum. “Whether you’re a writer, a collector, or just typewriter-curious, there’s something uniquely inspiring about the sound and feel of these classic machines in action!”
Guests can test their speed and precision in a Typewriter Contest, type an original haiku poem for the special event zine, and take part in the collaborative The Short Story Challenge.
LA-based typewriter resource Typewriter Connection, which recently exhibited 'Type Town' at the LA County Fair, will install a vintage typewriter display featuring rare machines and intriguing artifacts from the late 19th century, as well as colorful mid-century mechanical marvels. Additional special guests include The Typin' Pint, Typewriters Anonymous, Kathie Studios, and heART.strokes and Vintage Verse with Moe Types, all of whom will provide opportunities to enjoy typo-o-grams, custom cards made on the spot, and original poetry. They will also have themed merchadise, posters, retro treasures, handcrafted greeting cards, and naturally fully working typewriters for sale.
